Candi Skye Thorn is in her final year of High School and all set to graduate with her best friend Drew. The big plan is that they will move together to New York where Drew will attend the School of Visual Arts and Skye (as she prefers to be known) will get a job, maybe waitressing, to support herself. The big problem is Skye hasn't got any savings - she has to help out with the bills as her Mom just doesn't earn enough to support the both of them - but Drew thinks she has a deposit saved.
Her big earner is not working at the Burger Barn but rather reading Tarot Cards for her school friends. Skye doesn't believe in the Tarot or any other Psychic phenomena but her mom does and is convinced she has "powers". Skye knows it is all about reading people and telling them what they want to hear. This leads her in to the orbit of "Pluto" and when a plan is hatched to kidnap a local judges' daughter she gets dragged in.
There are some good twists in this story and a couple of things I didn't see coming. Sadly I just didn't care enough about the characters in this book to really invest in it. It is written well enough with no glaring plot holes or inconsistencies and does show well what happens when our little lies become big lies and, even worse, what happens when those lies are found out.
I am fairly neutral bout this book. I don't feel like I have wasted my time reading it but I probably won't go back and re-read it.
I RECEIVED A FREE COPY OF THIS BOOK FROM READERS FIRST IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
