Lego Flower Cart Polybag 30413

This is such a fun little polybag I was really eager to build it.  I was not disappointed as this gives a great little set that adds to an existing layout at a very competitive price point.  Even better you get 2 of the minidolls with the bag (Stephanie and Liv) which just seems to make the value unbelievable.

The main build is a little cart with 2 wheels that has a tiny flower display on it and then a little yellow crate with some more flowers in it for your stall holder to vend.  Throw in a little shopping bag and a tile pre-printed as a shopping list and you have everything you need to set up your own little flower stall.

Super cute and super fun to build.  This is going to be one of those little add-ons that keeps getting moved around displays to add a pop of colour and fun.

Lego The Guardian's Ship 76193

First things first, let us address the pachiderm lurking in the closet.  This set is called The Guardian's Ship, in the MCU the ship has a name it is called The Benatar.  Not entirely sure what choices were made by The Lego Group that led to a renaming but here we are.

I am BEYOND thrilled with how this set turned out.  Although I am not a huge MCU fan, more a sort of peripheral onlooker, this rendition of the ship is executed so well and really evokes the spirit of The Benatar I just had to have it.  I was not disappointed at all by the model, in fact I am seriously impressed by both the build techniques used and the overall look of the finished piece.  This thing is huge and the relief at a stand being included was immense.  Means I only need to find shelf space for the footprint of the stand and then the ship itself can hover above other display items (currently dwarfing 2 Star Wars Lego ships).

There are a nice range of minifigures included in the set:

Starlord
Thor
Mantis
Rocket
Groot (strangely with adult legs, I really thought he would have the mid-height legs)
Chitauri

Unfortunately it doesn't have a display stand for the figures or a name plaque for the ship.  The grey plate the figures are displayed on in the pictures is from my stash and not part of the set.  This is a real shame as I have ended up placing the figures inside The Benatar for safekeeping and I would much rather have had them on display but hey ho, I can always modify that situation when it finds a permanent home.

There is a reasonable amount of play functionality on this model as well and so many flaps and adjustable pieces you can definitely have fun creating your own battles.  It is also a very sturdy piece of kit and will stand up to a lot of play - just don't drop it, no Lego system brick based build stands up too well to that.  That is a big plus point for this one as well it is predominantly System Brick with the only real Technic bit of the build being the stand.

I am super thrilled with this set and I can wholeheartedly recommend it.  Yes, it is a BIG chunk of change but well worth every penny!

Lego Hydro Bounty 71756

On the whole this is actually a really great set.  I only have a couple of niggles with the completed set but they were enough for me to mark it down by a whole star.

You get a full complement of the Ninjago team in this set which is great and I am certainly not going to moan at that.  You actually get:

Scuba Nya
Scuba Jay and the land option
Scuba Zane
Scuba Kai and the land option
Scuba Cole
Scuba Lloyd and the land option

There are also two Wu Bots which are quirky little characters but I'm not entirely sure where they fit in to the whole Ninjago-verse.  I'm guessing they are the Ninjago droid equivalents of R2D2 and BB8.

Unfortunately you only get two of the bad guy team:

Prince Kalmaar (still my favourite mould)
Maaray Guard

Really feels lacking on the bad guy front for this set.

The Hydro Bounty itself is a pretty neat ship and there is room to pop both of the include sub builds in to the belly of the beast.  Personally I think they are too cool looking to tuck away so I popped the 2 chests and the scuba stand in to the hull.  The propulsion system is pretty neat and engineered in such a way that you can adjust it and the fins explode outwards (forgot to get photos of that I'm afraid).

However, the nose cone pulls out to make the weakest mech in the world.  It really isn't the easiest to pull off and reattach and the mech itself is fiddly to assemble in such a way as it will stand up.  Accordingly I am ignoring the possibility of doing that as it really does not work for me in any way shape or form.

Overall pretty pleased with the build quality and the techniques used to create it.

Lego Magical Funfair Roller Coaster 41685

Although I am a huge fan of the Friend's theme this set actually blew me away.  There is SO much play value included with the set that it is pretty amazing - even better it looks fabulous on display (even if the coaster track is actually wider than my shelf where I intended to locate this set).  The inital outlay may seem steep but this is going to keep you occupied for hundreds of play hours.

The only down side to the set is there are only 4, highly detailed, mini-dolls included with it.  Definitely not enough to populate this funfair build so you are going to have to pinch from your stash or other sets but that is only a minor niggle as you get:

1. The roller coaster track with 2 carts.

2. A stage area with the cutest bunny in a top hat sign where the bunny moves up and down.  Also includes revolving rear walls.  The shape of the stage is so blissfully curvy I loved that design feature.  The roof is a fabric overlay that pushes on and gives a wonderfully retro feel.

3. 2 side towers for the staging area that can be positioned wherever you want.  One is a popcorn stand with the cutest brick built sign.  The second is a dtaging area for the entertainers and even has a little dressing area.

4. A wheel balnce acrobatic thingy-ma-jig where two of your mini-dolls can put on a gymnastics show.

5. Two magic tricks.  One features a disappearing woman cabinet, the other is a disappearing gem trick.  The operation of the tricks is simple but highly effective and mae me very happy to play with them.

6. There are also a little balloon stall, a moveable bench with balloons, a magic trick desk with bunny in a tophat, flower trick and card trick and, finally, a signpost.

Everything just about fits inside the roller coaster track but it is a tight squeeze - you are definitely going to need a lot of play space to have the whole thing set up.  Worth it though as this thing is just such fun to play with.

The build instructions are wonderfully straight forward.  The whole is split in to 4 books which easily detail which bag you need to open next and means you can just build the section you want to and don;t have to follow the 1 - 8 bag numbers if you don't want to.
